Newborn baby portrait on the chest

A newborn wrapped in a patterned blanket, little fist tucked under the chin and looking straight out with that serious, wide-eyed stare brand-new babies have.

It sits on the chest above the pec, kept small and soft-edged so the face and hands stand out, with the blanket's tiny printed pattern fading off into the skin at the sides. It's a quiet piece, and it's meant to be.
