Zeus, king of the Greek gods, with his eagle at his shoulder and a bolt of lightning in his fist, looking down over a Spartan warrior standing ready with shield and sword. Behind the warrior, a lion's face fills the calf.
The lightning runs down through the knee to connect the two halves, so the god on the thigh and the warrior below read as one story from top to bottom.
